Why do the Police interrupt on our peaceful demonstrations?

No it's not wrong that you need permission. You have to inform the police that you are holding a protest/demonstration so that they can carry out a risk essment. This applies to everybody that wants to protest and is in everyone's best interests. It has nothing to do with freedom of speech!
