But no doubt about it that he DOES like you. He's just one shy guy tho & doesn't like to show his feelings, that's quite obvious! Why don't you kid around with him a little more & start "loosening" him up a bit. The more relaxed he feels about you, the more he's going to "come out" to you. IF you know what I mean. But just the remark he made when you said the name Brian plainly gave him away that he may have been concerned about you liking someone else! Just see if you can "bring him out" more & I think you'll get a lot more out of him as to how he does feel about you. You can do it, I'm sure, I have confidence in you...:)
