Is this an example of colonial mentality syndrome?

I was surfin myspace and i came across a profile where a guy was posing with a bunch of white people. They were all dressed in traditional garb. The guy wasnt white btw. The caption read,"colonised natives". I found that rather offensive. I dont get it....Colinisation was a horrible period in the history of mankind. People should just get over it and treat each other normaly. Do people such as the guy see that as a boost to their social esteem or what?
