Which is the correct rule here?

OK so my friend and I somehow got into a conversation of the "tagging up" rule in baseball. I said on a flyball you can safely leave the base after the ball 1st touches the fielder's glove. My friend says they can leave after the fielder has complete control of the ball. Who is right? Also, can you include an official link as proof? Thanks!
