Why do so many women feel like they need to shave their pubic hair?

I don't even trim my hair. I bathe at least once a day so i know I'm clean down there. My lover never complains when he is down there, but yet I frequently read about how women shave or wax themselves down there? Why? I don't want to look like a prepubescent child when I'm naked. Nor do I want to itch and have stubble, and waxing...well I can't imagine it is the most pleasurable thing to do. Has the industry become so graphic in their display of female gentiles that men think it is to be naked as a baby down there? What have we done to our men in society?
