Why do Surface winds in a cyclone blow clockwise in the Southern Hemisphere ?

Coriolis effect. It has to do with the Earth's rotation. Same thing that causes toilets to flush counter clock-wise in the northern hemisphere, and clock-wise in the southern hemisphere.
